What Fragrance-Free Really Means
Fragrance-free is not the same as unscented
Labels can be confusing. Here's the difference:
- Unscented products can still contain fragrance ingredients, used to cover up the smell of other ingredients.
- Fragrance-free means no fragrance has been added at all.
- "Natural" fragrance, such as essential oils, is still fragrance. Ingredients like linalool, limonene, citral, and geraniol often come from essential oils.
Our standard
Our core products contain:
- No parfum or fragrance
- No essential oils
- No masking scents
One exception, to be fully transparent: our Rich Cream contains a small amount of vanilla bean extract. It has no added parfum, but it isn't scent-free, so we label it as "no added fragrance".
Check for yourself
Every ingredient we use is listed on our Ingredients page. Look for words like parfum, fragrance, aroma, or essential oils. You won't find them in our fragrance-free products.
